Distribution funding

Distribution funding that begins with the operating reality.

Distribution businesses often manage the gap between supplier payments, inventory purchases, large orders, and customer collections. The right capital conversation can separate recurring working capital needs from longer life warehouse or equipment investment.

Funding needs

Focus the conversation on the decisions that change capital needs.

  • Fund inventory and working capital while customer invoices are outstanding.

  • Support warehouse, real estate, material handling, and long lived equipment investment.

  • Organize capital for expansion, ownership changes, restructuring, or modernization.

Potential funding angles

Consider grants, incentives, and financing as distinct paths.

These examples are useful screening context, not a list of available funding. The current notice, lender mandate, business facts, and project determine whether an opportunity is worth pursuing.

01

Working capital and inventory cycles

SBA 7a is a lender delivered program that can support eligible business purposes including working capital, inventory, equipment, real estate, and ownership changes. Lender requirements, repayment, and eligibility still apply.

02

Warehouse and equipment investment

SBA 504 may be relevant for qualifying fixed assets such as an owner occupied warehouse or long lived equipment. It cannot be used for working capital or inventory, so it should not be presented as a substitute for operating liquidity.

03

Rural project context

USDA Rural Business Development Grants can support eligible rural economic development activities, but direct applicants are limited to specified public, tribal, or rural serving nonprofit entities. Availability and applicant eligibility must be verified.

Important context

Eligibility and approval cannot be inferred from an industry label.

  • SBA programs are loans, not grants. Pricing, collateral, equity, eligible use of proceeds, repayment, and approval are determined under program rules and lender or CDC underwriting.

  • USDA rural grant pathways are not universal direct grants to distribution companies. Check the active notice, applicant type, rural requirements, and state guidance before relying on an opportunity.
