SBA financing guide

Use SBA program context to ask a more precise financing question.

SBA supported financing is lender delivered and repayable. This guide distinguishes the major program types and the questions a business should clarify before deciding whether an SBA pathway belongs in its broader capital plan.

Loan program context

SBA support does not remove the lender decision.

SBA programs can make particular forms of small business financing available through participating lenders and program partners. A business still needs to meet applicable eligibility, repayment, use of proceeds, documentation, and underwriting requirements.

Asgard USA can help organize a funding conversation. It does not issue SBA loans, guarantee approval, or act on behalf of the SBA.

Program guide

Three different financing paths, each with its own rules.

01

SBA 7a loans

A lender delivered program that can support a range of eligible business purposes. The relevant use of funds, borrower eligibility, repayment ability, and lender underwriting must be assessed for each request.

02

SBA 504 loans

A long term, fixed rate financing path delivered through Certified Development Companies and lenders for qualifying major fixed assets. It is not a working capital or inventory facility.

03

SBA microloans

Smaller business loans delivered through intermediary lenders, generally intended for smaller funding needs than the core Asgard working capital mandate. Eligibility and use of proceeds vary.

Before you apply

Clarify the transaction before choosing a loan program.

Program eligibility and loan terms are fact specific. Start with the business purpose, ownership, size, source of repayment, financing amount, collateral context, and whether the use of funds is working capital, equipment, real estate, inventory, or an ownership change.

  • Which business objective and specific use of funds require financing?

  • Does the business meet applicable small business and program eligibility rules?

  • What financial history, projections, debt information, and ownership documentation will the lender need?

  • What does repayment look like under the proposed capital structure?

  • Which participating lender or Certified Development Company is appropriate for the financing purpose?

Funding, engineered

Put SBA financing in the wider capital plan, not in a vacuum.

SBA, lender, collateral, repayment, and use of proceeds requirements must be verified before a business relies on any financing route.
